Why we exist

FolkTech is the company.
The products come after.

Founded by a paramedic with 33 years in rooms where a wrong answer costs something. After watching tools fail people at the worst possible moment — a life-saving button that sat out of reach, data that wasn’t there, a system that needed a network that wasn’t — we left the ambulance and started building the other way.

Local-first is not a slogan, and home is not only the house. It is the clinic, the shop, the machine you already own. If the model never leaves that machine, there is nothing to leak and nothing that dies when the grid blinks.

What is local-first AI?
AI that runs on hardware you control. The model, the memory, and the answer stay on the device. The network is optional.
Is FolkTech a product or a company?
FolkTech AI LLC is the company. Serena, Jake, .ftai, and FolkTech Academy are what the company makes.
Does “home” only mean a house?
No. Home is the house, the clinic, the shop, and the machine you already pay for. Local means the work stays there.
Does Serena send data to the cloud?
No. Core work runs on your local device — the computer in front of you — not on a rented server.
